Performing Arts

Before we move on to our topic which is performing arts the first thing is to understand the term art first. In simple words, it can be explained as the process or product of deliberately arranging elements in such a manner that appeals to the senses or emotions.

As there various types of arts the performing arts are those forms of art which is actually different from the plastic arts insofar as the former uses the artist's own body, face and presence as a medium, while the latter uses materials which include clay, metal or paint which can be molded or transformed to create some physical art object.

Almost every other person knows that performing arts include the dance, music, opera, drama, and circus arts. Artists are the participants in these arts in front of an audience and they are called performers which may include actors, comedians, dancers, musicians, and singers. The category of performing arts is also supported by workers in related fields, such as songwriting and stagecraft.

In order to adapt their appearance performers use costumes and stage makeup, etc.

In one form of art which is a specialized form the artists perform their work live to an audience. This is called Performance art. It is important to know that most of the performance art also involves some form of plastic art, perhaps in the creation of props. Dance was often referred to as a plastic art during the Modern dance era.

Lets discuss the three forms of performing arts i.e. music, drama and dance. Music in terms of academic discipline actually and mainly focuses on two career paths i.e. music performance and music education. When a student learns to play instruments at the same time also study music theory, musicology, history of music and composition.

Another form of performing arts is drama (Greek "to do", 'seeing place') is also the branch of the performing arts which is concerned with acting out stories in front of an audience by using combinations of speech, gesture, music, dance, sound and spectacle — indeed any one or more elements of the other performing arts.

Let’s discuss another form of performing arts which is called dance which is originated from Old French dancier, perhaps from Frankish. Generally, dance refers to the human movement either used as a form of expression or presented in a social, spiritual or performance setting.

It won’t be wrong if we say that dance is also used to describe methods of non-verbal communication and certain musical forms or genres. When we talk about dance how can we forget choreography which is the art of making dances, and the person who does this is called a choreographer.
